Rural Transit is for everyone!

A service of the Area 10 Agency on Aging, Rural Transit offers bus service to everyone in Monroe, Owen, and Lawrence Counties. You can ride no matter your age or physical abilities.

Rural Transit offers various transportation services. Express Services offer you opportunities to travel among Spencer, Ellettsville, and Bloomington Monday through Friday. County Routes offer round-trip service between specific points in the counties one to five times weekly. County Sweeps offer service throughout each county Monday through Friday. Please call 24 hours or more in advance of your trip on weekdays if possible.  Trips are scheduled based on space and availability.

Fares
To travel within one county, adults pay $.75. Two county fare is $1.50 for adults. Senior citizens are asked to donate the full fare amount.

Monthly passes are available. One-county monthly passes are $15.00 while two-county monthly passes are $18.00. Transfers to and from Bloomington Transit and the Indiana University Campus Bus Service are free.

Special Services
Call Rural Transit for these special services (Toll Free 1-800-844-1010 or 812-876-1079): Wheelchair lift (ADA compliant) and scheduled pick-up and drop-off within Rural Transit service area. Rural Transit is a Medicaid transportation provider. Medicaid recipients are encouraged to call our dispatcher for more information.

Advertising
Are you looking for inexpensive advertising with high visibility in four counties?  Rural Transit’s buses offer prime space to promote your business, nonprofit, or religious organization.  Last year we provided 215,000 rides, and our numbers and routes are quickly expanding.   All you have to do is provide an 18” by 42” inch sign for exterior advertising, or provide a poster for interior space.  We offer advertising rates as low as $20 per month.
